Boca del Río´s downtown is also known as “Corazón de Boca” (Boca´s heart), even it preserves  the traditional look It, and is here where they are located between other important points: The Municipal Palace,  Civil Record building, Socle and Santa Ana church.
Precisely in this zone it is where there are carried out the traditional holidays and partys that assemble the whole “boqueño” town.
In Boca´s Heart we can admire the sunset in the Boulevar, how the local fishers weave his fishing nets next to the Jamapa river, or just visit any seafood retaurants to enjoy the most delicious plates with the incomparable  boqueño flavour and season, and to drink a delicious “torito” while we are glad with the music of carousers and troubadours.
The building that we know nowadays as the Municipal Palace of Boca del Rio, was built at the beginning of the 19th century as a dwelling that concerned to Don Antonio García Ponce's family of León and Aguirre, his son Mr Antonio García donated the construction to benefit of the development of the railroad in the year of 1903.
Later, the building is occupied as military housing and then there is chosen popularly to turn into the first primary school of Boca del Rio, called "Benito Juárez", and that later would turn in a tvhighschool.
In the period of the Municipal President Lic. Avelino Muñiz was in use as public offices.
Nowadays it possesses two floors and a central court where there are carried out civil hearings, which direct communication of the Mayor allows to the inhabitants of Boca del Rio, here the people exposes his needs and problematic.

Santa Ana´s Church

The most ancient Church of Boca del Rio, was founded on December 25,  on 1776, being a butler Mr. Salvador Gonzalez and it is of colonial style.

Initially in her there was venerated to the Virgin of Carmen, mistress of the Fishermen, nevertheless, the tradition tells us how a few fishermen found between his fishing nets the statue of Our Lady of Santa Ana, which they led to the church to adore her and since then his white walls shelter our Lady of Holy Ana, whose holiday is celebrated on July 26 and who in addition has turned into mistress and protective of Boca del Rio.

The bell of the Church was elaborated in 1813 and one hurricane-force wind, of many that flog the region of Lee, demolished and broke her, they had to happen several years to replace it for the actual one, the old bell is still conserved inside the church.

 


Gunboat Guanajuato

This Nose Gunboat that was many years the ship emblem of the navy of Mexico, today opens his doors to know the history of the Mexican Navy, the functioning of a warship and the big memories of his adventures in the sea of the world.

The interactive Museum of the “Buque Guanajuato” shows the old libraries, central of control, bedrooms, jails and many fascinating places that are of great interest for children, young women and adults, in addition it possesses an area for the marine creativity and the virtual zone of war that is an exciting experience for the whole family.

 

 

 

Flags wharf

The " Corazón de Boca " is the most traditional zone of the city, there the " Muelle Banderas", interactive park that it exhibits in different shades of the culture “veracruzana” in his wide zones of scattering.

The wharf Flags owes his name to the historical precedents of the arrival of the Spanish to the zone of the Jamapa river, to which they named “Muelle Banderas” on having been got by our predecessors, who waved blankets emulating flags from the shore of the river.

Show Room

It possesses two spaces where there are continuous exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, one of these rooms is destined to present artists' works of the región, meanwhile  other one will be for the students of the workshops.

 

 

 

Museum of Archaeology

In this showroom 180 original pieces are exhibited from the "Las remojadas" culture, that developed in Mesoamérica's region between the year 1500 to. Of C. to 900 years A.D., this culture was discovered by the archeologist veracruzano Alfonso Medellín; between the pieces that stand out have be: an anthropomorphous feminine sculpture that represents to the Deity of the Bird Descendant shaped in clay with the haido and the solar necklace, which they do of this figure the only piece. Five pieces that they represent to the deity of the Bird Descendant in fantastic form and sculptures of smiling sweet little faces.

 

 

 

Cultural Center of Boca del Río

Thanks to the interest of the H. Town hall of Boca del Rio, of the National Institute of Anthropology and History and of Tenaris TAMSA, this modern Cultural Center was created by the aim to bring the current and future generations over; as well as to the national and international tourism to the historical knowledge of our culture.

The Cultural Center remains opened from Tuesday until Sunday of 10:00 to 18:00 hrs. The Cultural Center includes 5 areas with diverse functions:

 


 

 

Náhualt fountain

One of the attractions of the Corazón de Boca, is the Náhualt fountain, which means "Sound of the water "; this fountain does honor to the pre-Hispanic roots of the boqueño citizen across a spectacular deployment of lights, sounds and dancing waters.

The multicolored spectacle that offer the water dance of the Náhuatl fountain operates from a program of high technology that allows to synchronize the emission of water jets with the light and the sound, creating sparkling diverse forms that fills with life the Civic Plaza at the same time as they create conscience about the care of the water and the traditions.

The Náhualt fountain is located in the middle of the Civic Plaza "Benito Juárez", between the central square and the kiosk, and there has a dimension of 9 x 23 square meters.


 

 

Civic Plaza

Opposite to the Municipal Palace there is located the Civic Plaza named in honor of the Meritorious one of the Americas, Don Benito Juárez; it is in use for the honors to the Flag, and other activities of the Town hall, beside being the principal point of meeting of the local citizens.

Here they can be enjoyed the evenings in family, events of dance are carried out already be huapango or danzón, the traditional "Bath" during the Holidays of Santa Ana and commercial activities like fairs and musical events, where certainly the traditional carousers and the marimba are not absent.

The Civic Plaza also possesses a kiosk and the Náhuatl. font The citizens and visitors of the “Corazon de Boca” can admire the spectacle of lights and water from some banking while they taste some snow or torito. The healthy amusement and scattering together with the warmth of the boqueños do of the Civic Plaza a point where the kids, Young and adults they can amuse between the freshness and the greenery of his gardens.
